Congratualtions to Esther and Yeye!
Both of them helped the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams to VICTORY on Sunday October 26th, 2008.
Esther ran her heart out and her chins as she finished her first 6K with a great time and a smile on her face.
Yeye ran a great race with a hurt knee, never stopping or giving up as he crossed the finish line with vigor.
At the end of the day the Women were crowned 2008 CUNYAC Champions out scoring their opponents by a significant amount of points. It was amazing to see the excitement and the happiness as they realized that all their hard work had paid off and they won!
After hearing the Women's results the Men waited silently. Many of the men did not feel as though they had won. They figured that they had taken home second and just by mere points. As the places were announced the MC stated that there was a tie and it all came down to the 6th Runner. Finally, the last two teams awaited their placement, Hunter and Brooklyn College. The teams both scored 58 points. It all came down to the 6th runner. The time difference between Hunter's 6th runner and Brooklyn's 6th Runner (Marlon) was 2.8 seconds! The Men all looked at each other and looked at their coach, Steve Podias. They gasped in a deep breath as the announcer called out 2nd place... Hunter College! Brooklyn College won by 2.8 seconds, Marlon pushed himself to cross the finish line in front of the Hunter runner as the Cheerleaders and Women's Cross Country team cheered him to give it his all.
So a big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to both the men and women's Cross Country team! You all are amazing and it was great to be able to be apart of your award winning day!
Cheers!
